Following several delays, the official results of Puerto Rico’s seventh plebiscite regarding its political status have been released.

CERTIFIED FINAL RESULTS – PLEBISCITE 2024
This vote, providing voters with choices among the viable non-colonial alternatives for Puerto Rico’s political status, marks the seventh occasion in which Puerto Rico has held a political status vote. Statehood secured the highest number of votes, mirroring the outcomes of the 2012, 2017, and 2020 referenda. Currently, Puerto Rico is designated as an unincorporated territory of the United States, commonly known as a “commonwealth.”
Listed below are the official results:
- Statehood achieved 58.61% of the votes.
- Sovereignty in free association with the United States garnered 29.57% of the votes.
- Independence obtained 11.82% of the votes.
The total vote count reached 1,059,212.
