Waldemar Quiles, a retired major from the U.S. Army appointed as the DNER secretary, brings over thirty years of experience in civil engineering and resource management, with a history of involvement in substantial projects like the Bechara Canal and the Portugués Dam in Ponce.
“His expertise in disaster management and recovery initiatives will be vital to advancing our environmental goals,” the governor remarked.
Natalia Catoni, stepping into the role of DACO secretary, has a background in managing federal funds, public finance, and business growth, having worked with local agencies and international entities such as the World Bank.
“Natalia understands the challenges that consumers and entrepreneurs face in Puerto Rico, and I believe her experience will be crucial in safeguarding consumer rights,” González Colón commented.
Ramón Burgos Bermúdez will take over as the ADSEF administrator. With experience in both legislative roles and the executive branch of the Family Department, Burgos has spearheaded initiatives including crafting laws for child welfare and elderly services. The governor praised his dedication to Puerto Rican families and his accomplishments in social policies.
José Ángel Reyes Cañada, designated as the commissioner of the 911 Emergency System Bureau, has amassed over 37 years of experience in public safety and emergency management, playing pivotal roles within municipalities and state agencies.
“His expertise and background will be crucial in ensuring our emergency system operates effectively,” González Colón stated.
The governor emphasized that these appointments illustrate her dedication to socioeconomic advancement, environmental stewardship, and the enhancement of public services in Puerto Rico.
