Scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2025, the inauguration ceremonies of Governor Jenniffer González will be celebrated in what is being called a historic event, set against the backdrop of an energetic town festival.
Francisco Domenech, part of the organizing committee and former campaign manager for the governor-elect, shared the specifics of the inauguration events during a press conference at the Legislature on Sunday.
The day’s festivities will kick off at 8:00 a.m. with a public mass at Santa Teresita Church on Loíza Street in Santurce. Following the mass, various events will occur at the Capitol, which includes the swearing-in of members of the House and Senate, the Constitutional Cabinet, and the unveiling of the Pictorial Stamp by the United States Postal Service.
The swearing-in ceremony for the governor is planned for 10:30 a.m. on the north side of the Capitol (overlooking the sea), and it will be accessible to the public. After the ceremony, Governor González Colón will proceed to walk from the Capitol to La Fortaleza, joining the town celebration at Totem Plaza that she has arranged as a “gift to the citizens of Puerto Rico.”
The town celebration, featuring an array of local and international artists including Natti Natasha, Algarete, DJ Playero, Joseph Fonseca, Bri La Pelúa, DJ Nelson, Alberto Stylee, Rey Pirin, Ranking Stone, and Grupo Manía, is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Quinto Centenario (Totem Plaza) in Old San Juan. Renowned maestro Cuco Peña, recognized for his contributions to the International Salsa Museum, will direct the event. Notably, Carlos Bermúdez, a communicator and prominent organizer, confirmed that this gathering will not utilize public funds.
