Bomb threat being examined at LUMA call center located in Aguadilla

Authorities are probing a bomb threat that was reported at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday at a LUMA Energy call center located on Victoria Avenue, highway PR-111, in Aguadilla.

As per the initial report, the threat was made via a phone call, with a male voice suggesting he would place a bomb at the site “because someone had to do it.” The staff at the call center alerted the 9-1-1 Emergency System and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau.

The Explosives Office, in coordination with LUMA Energy’s internal security team, performed a search and found it to be a false alarm. The office was evacuated as a precautionary step.

At the same time, a comparable threat was reported in Mayagüez. There were no injuries or negative impacts reported in either case.
