Governor reveals New Year’s festivities in Convention District

---

On Monday, Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia shared the particulars of the New Year’s festivities taking place in the Convention District, emphasizing the event’s substantial tourist and economic influence, which will receive international coverage as part of the “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” broadcast on ABC.

“We are confident that we will once again exceed what was accomplished in past years, showcasing Puerto Rico as a distinct cultural and tourist hub,” Pierluisi remarked, highlighting an investment of $4.5 million in federal assistance alongside an anticipated return of $63 million. “This celebration provides both national and global visibility for our island.”

The event will feature an international performance by Luis Fonsi just before the clock strikes midnight, with entertainment from Dayanara Torres. Locally, artists like Gilberto Santa Rosa, El Gran Combo, Gisselle, and Plena Libre will take the stage. Attendees can expect a fireworks display and the raising of the famous Puerto Rican star.

Festivities will kick off at 5 p.m., with heightened security measures in place, including metal detectors and a ban on firearms, umbrellas, and coolers. For those unable to enter the T-Mobile District, outdoor screens, food and beverage stalls, portable restrooms, and complimentary transport via the Urban Train and buses will be available until 2 a.m.
