Heileene Colberg Birriel, the attorney representing Raymond Ayala, globally known as Daddy Yankee, announced on Tuesday the commencement of divorce proceedings between the artist and his spouse, Mireddys González.

“In response to the numerous calls and emails received, the following declarations are made. As the legal representative of Raymond Ayala, who is artistically recognized as Daddy Yankee, I confirm that this process is now underway,” Colberg Birriel stated in a released comment.

The lawyer highlighted her client’s respect for González and emphasized his wish to maintain the intimacy and privacy surrounding their marriage.

“For a considerable period, my client endeavored to reconcile the [marital] issues,” she remarked. “However, in September 2024, Mr. Ayala received communication via Ms. González’s legal advisor regarding her decision to initiate divorce proceedings, and private attempts were also undertaken but did not yield the anticipated outcomes.”

The attorney asserted that the filed legal action represents the sole available path and underscored their dedication to the confidentiality necessitated by such legal proceedings.

“As a law firm that primarily focuses on family law, we take the ethical and professional obligations to uphold the confidentiality mandated by law in these cases very seriously,” she noted. “We kindly request the media’s understanding and respect throughout this process, and any updates will be shared when appropriate.”

Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González have been married for over 25 years, maintaining a significant level of privacy regarding their personal lives. The artist is regarded as a pioneering figure and leading representative of the urban genre on a global scale.
