SEC allows 3 days for address verification for specific mail-in ballots

---

Jessika Padilla Rivera, the Alternate Chairwoman of the State Elections Commission, announced that early voters who failed to send a copy of their identification along with their mailed ballots have three days to verify their addresses with the Administrative Board for Absentee and Early Voting (JAVA, as it is known in Spanish).

Approximately 450 voters who did not include identification with their absentee or mail-in ballots are expected to receive an official call from the SEC in the coming days to confirm their address, as indicated by the official.

“The Administrative Board for Absentee and Early Voting is in the process of validating those applications that are pending, primarily focusing on the addresses, particularly when the submitted address differs from the General Registry of Voters; in such cases, we need to ensure that the provided address is indeed valid,” Padilla Rivera stated.

When questioned about whether envelopes with unverifiable addresses would be discarded, she replied, “We will continue to reach out and make arrangements with the voters until the review process is complete.”

According to the information shared by the official, the SEC has received 136,713 envelopes containing mail-in ballots out of around 145,917 requests for these ballots. Additionally, for absentee voting, the agency has collected 6,806 envelopes.
