An inmate has reportedly been left in critical condition following an assault that occurred around 8:56 a.m. on Saturday at the Guayama 1000 correctional facility.
The victim stated that while in the third unit of the plaza area for a meal, he was attacked by multiple inmates wielding sharp weapons, resulting in injuries to several areas of his body.
The inmate received medical attention within the facility and was then transferred to a metropolitan hospital in critical condition.
The incident has been passed on to the Assault Division of the Guayama Criminal Investigation Corps for additional inquiry.
