Former legislator Colberg Toro detained for cocaine possession

Former legislator Severo Colberg Toro was apprehended by police on Wednesday afternoon in Mayagüez for possession of drugs.

As per the police documentation, Colberg Toro, 71, who resides in Mayagüez, was discovered with cocaine and $21 in cash in the Roosevelt residential section of the Dulces Labios neighborhood.

He appeared before Judge Luis Padilla Galiano, who found sufficient grounds for the arrest and set bail at $4,000, which Colberg Toro was able to pay.

The preliminary hearing is set for October 30, 2024.

Colberg Toro, originally from Cabo Rojo, was a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives from 1993 to 2004, representing the Popular Democratic Party.
