Treasury Department allocates over $90 million to elderly individuals

---

On Friday, Treasury Secretary Nelson Pérez Méndez announced that over $90 million has been allocated in loans to individuals aged 65 and older, as well as to low-income retirees.

He also pointed out that the deadline for claiming the senior credit is on Monday, October 14.

“The application procedure has been efficient and productive, successfully distributing $91,216,900 to 190,788 individuals. We encourage eligible citizens who have not submitted their applications to do so before the deadline arrives,” Pérez Méndez stated in a written announcement.

So far, the Treasury has also allocated close to $205 million in Economic Incentives to 152,044 households. “This incentive is in addition to the $1.299 billion provided through the Credit for Work program, benefiting more than 850,000 families in Puerto Rico,” Pérez Méndez further noted.

The application period for the credit is conducted online via SURI, and applicants must provide documentation such as photo ID and proof of their age. For further details, please visit the Department of the Treasury’s website.
