Rep. Méndez: Survey indicates a win for the NPP

---

Carlos “Johnny” Méndez Nuñez, the minority leader of the New Progressive Party (NPP) in the island’s House of Representatives, stated on Thursday that the results from a significant island poll echo the sentiments observed in the community — strong backing for NPP gubernatorial candidate Jenniffer González Colón.

“Every poll serves as a tool for assessment; nonetheless, the findings displayed in the El Nuevo Día survey validate our stance, indicating that Jenniffer González’s candidacy strengthens our party and significantly broadens the electoral base,” Méndez commented. “The resident commissioner has shown a remarkable capacity to unify the base and draw in new supporters, a crucial factor in advancing the NPP.”

“It’s vital to highlight that the NPP’s push for a unified vote is yielding results,” he continued. “We have 89% of our members concentrated on voting for Jenniffer and the candidates from La Palma; but there is much more ahead.”

Méndez emphasized that the poll indicates González Colón has garnered support for the NPP beyond its usual supporters.

“The statistics show that González enjoys a robust 18% advantage over her nearest rival among senior students, who represent the future of Puerto Rico,” he remarked. “Simultaneously, the 9% lead in voting intentions from residents in the [San Juan] metropolitan area challenges another opposition myth.”

“We must not let our guard down,” Méndez cautioned. “This election presents a choice between a lasting connection with the United States and American citizenship, both of which only statehood can assure, versus those aiming to sever our ties with our nation, who have consistently admired dictators and who obscure their electoral principles merely to gain a handful of votes.”
