State of New York sends Big Crew to Restore Electricity on the island

More than 160 employees and 100 vans of the New York electricity company arrived in Puerto Rico to help the territory restore electricity after the destruction of Hurricane Maria.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that another 220 employees and more than 180 vehicles and equipment will be dispatched in the coming days. Cuomo said that Puerto Rican governor Ricardo Rossello asked New York and other states to help the island restore the electricity grid.

New York Power Authority, Con Edison, National Grid and Hudson Gas and Electric Central are among the New York state companies and entities that have sent assistance.

Cuomo has harshly criticized the federal government for not giving the necessary help to Puerto Rico. Cuomo has made two trips to the island since the hurricane made landfall in September.
