PDP Senate hopefuls promote the party’s governance plan

Ramón Luis Hernández Espino, the PDP candidate vying for the Arecibo District position in the island Senate, celebrated the endorsement of the PDP government initiative at the party’s gathering in Mayagüez on Sunday.

“We are the inaugural political entity in Puerto Rico to unveil a comprehensive, credible proposal aimed at solving multiple problems,” stated the candidate.

“A key proposal that we wholeheartedly support is the revival of public education, eliminating partisan influences from the Department of Education,” Hernández Espino explained. “The nation has witnessed how the New Progressive Party (NPP) administrations have exploited the Department of Education as a funding source for political endeavors. This ethical decay must cease. As governor, Jesús Manuel Ortiz will not permit political meddling, whether from his party or any other, within the educational framework.”

The PDP also addressed the living costs, particularly in relation to food, which is “an untenable situation,” noted the Senate candidate on Sunday.

“We pledge to combat cabotage laws to help lower energy and food prices,” Hernández Espino added. “The public is aware that the NPP gubernatorial candidate, Jenniffer González, is both the attorney and advocate for LUMA Energy, as well as a supporter of cabotage laws. Why? These businesses contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to her electoral campaigns.”

Hernández Espino further highlighted that one of the PDP’s approved proposals includes the responsible reduction of tax rates to simplify and cut government expenditures.

“The progress we made yesterday in Mayagüez stands in stark contrast to the events of the NPP’s gatherings in San Juan, especially when Washington Republicans allied with Jenniffer González and William Villafañe hindered the transition from PAN to SNAP, adversely affecting thousands of Puerto Ricans,” Hernández Espino asserted. “We will address that with Pablo José Hernández as our forthcoming resident commissioner from Puerto Rico in Washington.”

Another candidate for the Senate from the PDP, Ada Álvarez Conde, echoed similar sentiments on Monday, stressing Ortiz’s commitment to terminating the contract with the struggling grid operator LUMA Energy and the introduction of a groundbreaking program aimed at providing 25,000 housekeepers for senior citizens and individuals with functional diversity.

The candidates encouraged the electorate to visit ppdpr.net/plan-fuerza-de-futuro, where the complete PDP platform document can be found.
