Amazon is currently building its first delivery center in the Caribbean, located in Dorado, Puerto Rico. This center will help improve product distribution in the region, including Puerto Rico.
The new facility will be about 100,000 square feet and will create over 100 jobs, both full-time and part-time, along with more than 200 opportunities for drivers through Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners (DSP).
Ashleigh de la Torre, Amazon’s vice president of public policy, said, “Puerto Rico is a great place for business, and our new delivery center will allow us to serve our customers more quickly and efficiently.”
Governor Pedro Pierluisi noted that the opening of this new center highlights the strengths of the Puerto Rican people and the island’s appeal to the world.
The construction is expected to be finished by mid-2025.
Manolo Cidre, the secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, added that Amazon’s entry into Puerto Rico shows the growing confidence in the Puerto Rican market. He also mentioned that this investment will create valuable jobs and opportunities for collaboration with service providers.
