The alleged perpetrator of the stabbing attack on a young woman who was traveling in a public bus in San Juan, Puerto Rico was arrested this morning near a gas station on Avenida San Claudio, in Cupey, and among her belongings was seized the weapon that is presumed used to seriously hurt the victim.
A group of agents from the San Juan CIC maintained surveillance in various sectors of Cupey, where the 43-year-old suspect lives, and who has a history of assaults and violations of the Weapons Law.
The woman did not resist the arrest and will be taken to a line up, so that the witnesses of the vicious attack can identify her, prior to the filing of charges of attempted murder and use of a knife in the commission of the crime.
The attack on the young woman, for no apparent reason, occurred around noon on Wednesday when the victim and the perpetrator were traveling in a public bus along Calle América, in Hato Rey.
The suspect was seen on Thursday morning in Cupey wearing a red shirt and pants.
The woman described with a fair complexion, short and dark hair, had also threatened the employees of a bakery last weekend who refused to give her a free breakfast.
The injured young woman, identified as Ramseli Pérez, 26 is still being held at the Río Piedras Medical Center, in critical condition. The victim had recently graduated from a university institution.
The victim had boarded the bus in the Quintana sector of Hato Rey. The attack occurred when the bus was passing through Calle América, near Roosevelt Avenue.
The 12 passengers and the driver were stunned and saw the attacker leave the bus as she continued walking. Neither the victim nor the aggressor knew each other.
