Truck driver Luis A. García de Jesús, took the agents of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Aibonito to the place where he left a 4-month old baby on the grass on the banks of the Luis A. Ferré highway (PR-52 ), exposed to rodents and insects, after allegedly having savagely beaten the minor’s mother, with whom he has an extramarital affair.
García de Jesús, 26, who is married and is a resident of Villalba, Puerto Rico is not the baby’s father. After learning that he was wanted, he turned himself in at around 2:00 in the morning at the Coamo District Police Dept. and took hours to say where he had left the baby, who for a moment was believed to have been burned to death by setting fire to the Jeep Liberty owned by the woman with whom he had an affair and the one he allegedly beat in a moment of jealousy.
It was around 2:00 in the morning that the dazed woman mentioned to the doctors and nurses who were treating her at a hospital in Ponce that she wanted to know about her baby daughter. After 6:00 this morning, the agents found the baby and took her to a hospital, in apparent good condition.
According to police sources, due to the brutality of the case, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) could take charge of the case.
A group of agents tried to find the truck that García de Jesús allegedly used to transport the baby girl after kidnapping her. The car seat she was in was burned when the Jeep Liberty suv was set on fire.
The Police reported that the aggression against the woman occurred at 11:00 last night, in the San Idelfonso neighborhood. The 26-year-old victim told the agents that García de Jesús assaulted her and then set her vehicle on fire.
