Slaying of 2 Puerto Rican mothers leave community in SHOCK

Valley Township Police Chief Glenn Eckman said: “Valley Twp experienced a horrific double murder on a holiday weekend where family and friends were supposed to enjoy the unofficial start of summer. Instead, two young women and an unborn child are dead. It was a brutal scene for the prosecuting officers, but I thank all of our colleagues for their cooperation in finding and apprehending the accused.”

In reviewing the facts, the authorities in Pennsylvania confirmed much of the data originally provided, but made some clarifications.

On May 29, 2022, at 9:21 p.m., Coatesville Police responded to a domestic dispute at 300 Mount Pleasant Street between the now-defendant and Tiara while visiting friends.

But when officers arrived, Tiara, who was inside a Toyota Corolla with her 22-month-old son in the backseat, told officers all was well.

The defendant became upset when the police questioned the young woman, but she moved away from the Puerto Rican’s vehicle and got into a black Ford Edge.

After speaking with the victim and the defendant, police cleared the scene and Tiara drove off with the child in the back of his car.

However, 30 minutes later, Valley Township Police responded to an emergency call reporting an accident and shots fired at 300 E. Glencrest Rd. in Valley Township.

One witness told police he heard nine shots, and another witness reported seeing a black SUV drive away from the scene.

Local police found Tiara in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Corolla with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transferred to the Paoli Hospital, where the doctors did everything to save her but she was declared deceased shortly after arriving.

At the scene, police officers discovered a trail of blood leading from the front passenger seat door to the side of the road where Kimberly Ortiz-Zayas, who was five months pregnant, was found deceased. It is unclear when Kimberly met Tiara.

Authorities reported finding shell casings fired inside and outside the car, and a blood-covered cell phone in the center console.

Additionally, Tiara’s Toyota Corolla was wrecked and tire marks could be seen on the driver’s side rear door.

Although when they announced Kallie’s arrest, the authorities said that Tiara’s 22-month-old son was in the back seat of the vehicle, they now came out to correct that version and pointed out that the little boy was not at the scene of the crime.

At 10:45 p.m., nearly an hour after the couple’s first argument, West Chester Police responded to a report of a carjacking on Rt. 162 and Telegraph Road in East Bradford.

A man, who knew the defendant, reported that he had stolen his black Infiniti at gunpoint. As he stated, while he was washing his car at 100 Pennsylvania Ave., the defendant stopped in his black Ford Edge, jumped into the vehicle and ordered him to drive and stay on secondary roads, committing the carjacking of which he is accused. .

According to the complaint, Kallie told him to drive to Philadelphia and asked him to change his clothes to throw off the authorities. The defendant then held a black pistol to his head as he was driving and ordered him to get out of the vehicle upon arrival in the town of East Bradford.

The man whose Infiniti had been stolen flagged down a passing motorist, who stopped to help him and called police.

A police chase then began involving several police units, which tried to stop the Infiniti using sirens, lights and obstacles.

At 11:04 p.m. the defendant exited the stolen car holding a gun and pointing it at his head. But the police managed to negotiate and Kallie ended up giving herself up. The T-shirt she was wearing was stained with blood, authorities now said. It was 11:41 p.m. of May 29 last.

Investigators in the case recovered a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol, which contained a live cartridge in the chamber and a live cartridge in the magazine.

Coatesville Police later located the black Ford Edge parked near where the Infiniti had been stolen.

Kallie’s vehicle was collided on the passenger side, in the front of the vehicle which would confirm that it was the vehicle that crashed into the Toyota Corolla.

Other evidence linking Kallie to the double felony is that a Ford part missing from the defendant’s SUV was found under the passenger side of the Toyota Corolla where the victims were killed.

Meanwhile, Kallie and Tiara’s son was later found unharmed in Coatesville with relatives of the accused. The man is believed to have removed the boy from the car after shooting the two Puerto Rican women and that at some point in his flight he handed him over to his family.
