Tourists are being targeted in Old San Juan

San Juan municipal police investigated several, and now common illegal appropriations of catalytic converters from vehicles rented by tourists, which were stolen from La Puntilla parking lot, on Paseo de la Princesa, in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

According to the representative of the car rental company, tourists rent vehicles and normally park them in the La Puntilla parking lot to visit Old San Juan. There, the thieves steal car parts from these vehicles (specially catalytic converters). The latest report came in on April 14 at around 5:00 in the afternoon and yesterday, April 15.

The vehicles were described as three Mitsubishi Outlanders, all from the year 2021, two white and one gray.

The property was not appraised at the time of this report and the case was referred to personnel from the San Juan CIC Property Division for further investigation.

Agent Ángel San Inocencio, of the Municipal Police of San Juan, preliminarily investigated the complaint.
