Update on the 13 yr-old with illegal Assault Rifle in Bayamón, PR

The chief prosecutor, Jessika Correa González reported this afternoon that the case involving a minor who allegedly photographed himself with a rifle will not be presented in court today.

As she stated in written statements, new aspects warrant expanding the investigation to cover “multiple angles.”

“The complaint was received at the Department of Justice two days ago and we will take the time necessary to present a solid case, in which justice is truly done. As we have stated before, the cases are filed when they are ready,” said Correa González.

Yesterday afternoon, the Police seized a high-powered rifle, with three magazines and 91 bullets, after school authorities warned that a 13-year-old minor had posted a photo on social media with the rifle in his hands with alleged threats that he would use the weapon to shoot and cause deaths at the Jesús Sánchez Erazo School, in section 10 of the Santa Juanita community in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

The version contained in the police reports establishes that the agents of the Bayamón Sur Precinct went to the minor’s house in the Lomas Verdes urbanization and, through a consented search, seized the assault rifle with a mutilated series, three magazines with 91 caliber .223 ammunition.

The minor published the photos in December and yesterday, with the authorization of his mother and in front of her, under legal warnings, he admitted that the weapon was real and he had it hidden in his house.
