Surgeons operate with cellphone lights in Puerto Rico

Surgeons in Puerto Rico face many challenges. The top one is working without power, light. Many photos have surfaced on social media about the issue, but still the local government insists it’s doing it’s best.

The former governor of Puerto Rico, Alejandro García Padilla, published a photograph  that also went viral of doctors operating using the light of a cell phone. This picture is worth a thousand words and raises questions about President Donald Trump’s comments on the effectiveness of his relief efforts on the island.

The Governor challenged the self-evaluation score by President Donald Trump of a perfect “10” when tweeting the picture. Other surgeons have also used battery-operated flashlights after 33 days since Hurricane Maria made landfall on the island.
