FBI arrests “ENKY” one of the Cidra Massacre’s suspects

Video: Federal and local authorities reported today, Sunday, the arrest of one of the suspects in the Cidra massacre that occurred in December of last year, where 5 were shot and killed and which was recorded on video surveillance.

The United States Marshals Service in Puerto Rico identified him as José Enrique Ortiz Colón alias “Enky”.

According to a press release sent by the federal agency, in the afternoon, federal and local authorities managed to arrest Ortiz Colón at a time when he and his family were leaving the Sam’s Club store on Avenida Kennedy.

The federal agency described Ortiz Colón “as one of the most important gunmen within the criminal organization led by the fugitive Nelson Torres Delgado alias “El Burro” -who is linked to the massacre and other crimes-.

It is alleged that “Enky” along with other gunmen participated in the massacre that occurred in Cidra, in front of the “La Lomita” business on Los Oliques street in the Certenejas neighborhood on December 8, 2021 in which five people were shot dead.

The head of the federal marshals on the island, Wilmer Ocasio Ibarra, maintained in written statements that “the charges against the fugitive in this case are worrying. I am grateful for the teamwork of the Puerto Rico Police and the members of our task force to locate and detain this individual safely and effectively.”

“We hope that the pending legal proceedings will help provide some kind of relief to the victim and his family. Today our communities can feel safer, hearing the news that this fugitive this afternoon will face justice and sleep behind bars. Rest assured that the US Marshals Service and its sister law enforcement agencies continue to search for these violent fugitives,” he added.

The Violent Offenders task force of the Marshals Service and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau participated in the operation.
