Multiple slot machines, unauthorized occupied apartments, stolen vehicles, unregistered motorcycles, and drugs. These are some of the findings of several police divisions of the Bayamón police area as part of an operation carried out this morning in the Virgilio Dávila caserío in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

The operation also concluded with the arrest of five men for trespassing by appropriating apartments without authorization. One of those arrested, according to the Police, had an apartment designated for the operation of illicit drugs. So far, the identity of the detainees had not been revealed.

That public housing complex has been at the center of controversy after a massive Christmas party was held without the authorization of the Department of Health or the Public Housing Administration . The party, however, was attended by renowned artists such as Rauw Alejandro, the Spanish singer Rosalía, Randy “Nota Loca” and Rafa Pabón.

The auxiliary commander of the Bayamón police area, Margarita George Marrero, explained to the press that initially it was a “social operation” after receiving complaints from citizens who claimed that they could not sleep at night because there was loud music and that there were illegal games.

“This was a social operation. However, we entered with all the units of the Puerto Rico Police so that later both the Police, as well as with community relations and the Department of Housing, do some work here to improve the quality of life to residents. However, we corroborated that the information they had reported to us was correct, ”she explained.

“There was gazebo right in the middle of the community that had four slot machines, soda machines, flashy lights that resembled a party casino, and big loud speakers. So, we were able to corroborate the confidence they had given us, “she added.

The commander could not specify if the Public Housing authority knew about the slot machines found in the gazebo of the public housing complex.

“There were five arrests. They were people who were living in apartments that should have been empty. We also took three stolen vehicles, two unregistered motorcycles, and illegal drugs were seized. Police also occupied drugs in different apartments, a lot of marijuana was also found. Police also seized bullets, two vehicles marked by the dogs and another vehicle that was not being paid for.

The investigation against the five detainees would remain in the hands of the Bayamón Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC).
