José Daniel De Jesús Morales, the alleged aggressor of the former model, Noris Díaz Pérez, better known as La Taína, who was wanted after being accused in absence with a bail of $200,000 on charges of domestic violence, turned himself in this afternoon at the Judicial Center of San Juan.

De Jesús Morales, 38, with a history of state and federal drug charges, went to court accompanied by his lawyer, Inés Cartagena.

The press reported that La Taína went last Thursday to the offices of the Domestic Violence Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) of San Juan, where she was interviewed for the aggression she suffered at the hands of her partner in an incident classified as gender violence, for which she received medical care.

The events occurred on Wednesday night, in front of a commercial establishment on Piñero Ave.

While on Friday, the Department of Justice filed two criminal charges against De Jesús Morales, for attacking her “in different parts of her body.”

“De Jesús Morales and her victim were arguing when he attacked her in different parts of her body. Later, they went to her home, where he assaulted her again and pulled her hair. She received medical assistance at the Río Piedras Diagnosis and Treatment Center, ”the Justice Department said in a press release.

De Jesús Morales faces two charges for violating Article 3.1 of Law 54 on Domestic Violence, explained prosecutor Frances Ortiz Fernández, coordinator of the specialized unit for Domestic Violence, Sexual Crimes and Child Abuse of the San Juan Prosecutor’s Office of the Department of Justice.

The case was filed before Judge Ilyana Blanco Maldonado, of the San Juan Court of First Instance, who found cause for the arrest of De Jesús Morales.

The man had been wanted since the complaint was made by the authorities, so the charges were filed in absence.

De Jesús, as reported by Justice, is a federal convict, previously convicted for Drug possesion and is serving a probation period.

The 38-year-old man posted the $200,000 bond; at a rate of $100,000 for each charge.

In the case that he lends it, he must remain under supervision with an ankle monitor for violating the Domestic Violence Law and a protection order could be lifted against him so that he cannot contact or approach La Taína.
