At least seven people were killed this past Thanksgiving weekend, while the death of a woman in Vieques has so far been listed as a suspect.
The figure includes two subjects killed this morning in San Juan.
The summary of news for the weekend reported four murders early yesterday, one on Saturday in Canóvanas, in which a young man was kidnapped and his body was found dead on a highway in Barrio La Central. In addition, two violent deaths were registered in Río Piedras in separate events and one in Bayamón in the early hours of Sunday.
However, in the last hours another murder was registered at 2:19 am today, near a field, located on Estación Street in the Jardines de Dorado community.
According to preliminary data, the authorities were alerted to shots fired at the scene, and when police officers arrived, they found the body of a man with several gunshot wounds.
At the moment, the deceased has not been identified by the authorities.
Similarly, a double murder was reported this morning on the PR-1 highway, near the offices of the Sports and Recreation Department in San Juan.
Meanwhile, in Vieques, the body of a woman in an advanced state of decomposition was found at 6:10 in the afternoon on Sunday, on Highway 201, kilometer 5, specifically in the Puerto Real sector.
The victim was gagged, tied with ropes in the area of the feet and wrapped in a sheet.
Although at the moment it is classified as a suspicious death, it emerged last night that the authorities were trying to find the whereabouts of the woman’s husband in the event of a possible case of sexist violence.
So far this year, 564 deaths have been reported, 74 more than those reported for this date last year.
On the other hand, at least five people lost their lives in accidents on the roads.
A cyclist lost his life at 4:46 p.m. yesterday, on the Manuel T. Guillen highway in front of the Stolen Vehicles Division in Arecibo.
According to the investigation carried out by agent Jorge Collazo Rosado, assigned to the Arecibo Highway Patrol Division, Wilfredo Figueroa González, 37 years old and a resident of the aforementioned municipality, carried out maneuvers with his bicycle on public roads without taking precautions when he was hit. for the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle, bronze color, year 2021, driven by José E. Matienzo Olivella, 69, a resident of Arecibo.
Figueroa González was transported to the Pavía Hospital in Arecibo, where at about 8:07 p.m. he was pronounced dead from the wounds received.
The other deaths from vehicular accidents were reported in Caguas, Orocovis, Cabo Rojo and Cayey.
So far this year, 299 deaths by road accidents have been reported, 72 more than those reported for this same date in 2020.
