Former MLB pitcher, Pedro Feliciano, died on Monday morning of apparent natural causes, according to the press.
A resident of Vega Alta, PR, Feliciano died at his home from an apparent heart attack. On August 25, he turned 45 years old. Since 2013 he had a diagnosis of a heart condition related to a rare genetic condition called left ventricular noncompaction. The condition was the result of failure of myocardial development from birth.
Born in Río Piedras (San Juan), Feliciano pitched all nine of his major league seasons with the New York Mets. His best year there was in the 2006 season.
The Mets made a public expression after learning about his passing.

Feliciano missed the 2011 and 2012 seasons with shoulder problems. It was two years in which he was under contract with the New York Yankees, from whom he got his best contract in the majors at $8 million for two seasons. In the long run he never pitched for them.

Feliciano is survived by his wife and two of his children, a male college student and a 14-year-old teenager.
