Agents from the Guard Corps of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER) visited the Santurce area, near Ciudadela, yesterday to try to catch a monkey of the Rhesus species that was seen by the place.
“It is still unknown how it got there or if it belongs to someone,” the agency said through its social networks.
Meanwhile, it was established that the animal is not violent and “should not be dangerous to humans, unless they try to corner or trap it. It is recommended not to go near or give him food ”.
“Specialized personnel from the Wildlife Unit patrol the area to catch it promptly. Being an urban area, the agents develop other tactics, such as the use of traps, to capture them ”, it was added.
The animal is still at large.
