The Mayagüez police and firefighters investigated the night of Oct.12th at around 11:20 p.m. a complaint where a balcony of a residence and a vehicle were burned, in events that occurred on Cristy Street in the Dulces Labios neighborhood in Mayagüez.
Related to these events, Pedro Enrique Torres Nieves, 31, a resident of the Aquilino de Añasco parcelas, was arrested, seizing a bag of alleged cocaine which later tested positive in the field test, and Geovanny Cardoza Caban, 43, a resident in the Mayagüez Terrace urbanization in Mayagüez.
These, in common and mutual agreement, using a fuel accelerator, set fire to the balcony of the residence of Mr. Arístides Pérez, which was inhabited and no one was injured. In addition, a white 2014 Nissan Versa model was used for the crime, which is being investigated.
Police agents who were patrolling the area, noticed the situation and proceeded to intervene with them in the act, as the subjects tried to flee.
Lieutenant Miguel Rivera, director of the Explosives Division, and agent Seguí from Technical Services were informed for the due investigation.
In addition, in the afternoon, a white 1994 Ford Ranger vehicle was set on fire, receiving damage, this was related to the same case.
