Two septuagenarians perished last night burned in separate fires that occurred in the Los Rosarios neighborhood, in Ciales, and in the Santa Elena residential area, in Río Piedras.
According to the Police, at 11:50 p.m. yesterday, a fire broke out in a two-story house built of wood and concrete in the Los Rosario neighborhood of the Las Lomas sector, in the Cordillera de Ciales neighborhood.
The firefighters extinguished the flames and upon entering, among the rubble, they found the charred corpse of Ángel Vázquez Rivera, 72 years old.
Uniformed agents rescued three dogs that were in the residence. The flames hit a car that was owned by Vázquez Rivera.
Agent Edwin Calderón Torres, from the Arecibo Homicide Division, is in charge of the investigation.
The other fire broke out at 10:45 p.m. yesterday, in an apartment in building D, in the Santa Elena residential area, in Río Piedras.
Agents from the Puerto Nuevo Precinct came to the scene, and when firefighters extinguished the flames they found the charred body of Lonrry R. Lemus Fonseca, 70, who lived alone.
The fire department expert Abelardo Pérez examined the scene, determining that it was an incident caused by candles.
