update: The baby has already been discharged from the hospital.
Last night, the Guaynabo Municipal Police commissioner was walking near the Jardines de Mabó residential area and noticed that a lot of smoke was coming out of a car. A patrolman arrived at the scene and noticed that the smell of marijuana was very strong, so he asked the four people who were in the vehicle if they had illegal substances. All four people turned in the marijuana.
The officer realized that although the baby was sitting in a ‘car seat’ she was not buckled up.
These four people, including the mother of the baby, were arrested and are awaiting possible charges. It was indicated that these people live in the southern area of the Island.
Last night, a social worker from the Department of the Family filed a complaint at the Bello Monte Municipal Barracks in Guaynabo for possible marijuana intoxication to the minor.
