The Puerto Rican singer Chayanne is one of the artistic figures that appears in the recent investigation named “Pandora Papers“, carried out by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), and in which he is linked to two offshore companies , one in Panama and another in the state of Florida, where he resides.
According to the digital edition laSexta, the Latin pop ballad interpreter appears in an offshore company in Panama under the name Fentress International, S.A., and in another in Florida, owner of an apartment in a tower of buildings in the city of Miami.
The singer’s real name, Elmer Figueroa Arce, appears in documents dated August 2001, corresponding to Panamanian society. According to the investigation, the “power of attorney” authorized him to represent and collect on behalf of the company from anywhere in the world. That included taking out loans and setting up contracts. The company went inactive in 2013.
Chayanne also appears linked to the company in Florida, Eloisa Investments LLC, of which his wife is allegedly the shareholder and director. The wife is identified on laSexta as Marina Elizabeth Figueroa, however she has always been named as Marilisa Maronese. Another relative of the artist linked to the investigation is sister-in-law Anna Maronese, mother of influencer Lele Pons. This person is related to him as the director of Eloisa Investments, she owns an apartment at the Hilton Grand Hotel in Miami’s Biscayne Bay with a value of half a million dollars.
The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists has tried to get a reaction from the singer, but has had no response.
