A 16-year-old girl, who was on vacation on the island, died this morning after the vehicle in which she was traveling as a passenger collided with a dirt slope in front of a business in Ciales.
The accident happened when Mrs. Rosado, 36, was driving along the road in a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage, and upon reaching kilometer 11.6 she lost control of the steering wheel and hit the slope.
The 16 year-old, a resident of Orlando, Florida, identified as Yarelis D. Rodríguez Rivas, died instantly from the severe injuries, as she was not wearing the seat belt. The driver, Mrs. Rosado was transported to the Dr. Center Hospital in Manatí in stable condition.
The incident is being investigated by the Arecibo Highway Patrol.
