Federal and State Authorities today began an investigation into the Municipality of Patillas after an inspection was carried out today where allegedly, investigators found food and water provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) thrown in a trash container according to sources. Supplies mismanagement or theft, for being federal property, will be investigated by the FBI and can lead to a penalty of up to 20 years if any individual is found to be violating the distribution guidelines.
Also, supplies were found outdoors without any protection from the rain and witness officials say they saw rats crawling all over the merchandise, which naturally, will have to be seized and thrown away. The Governor is ordering the Dept. of Justice to further investigate how FEMA supplies are being distributed by local municipality staff.
