Bullets pierced the side of a truck carrying cash as the driver is forced to take evasive action to avoid the armed robbers.
In an attempted robbery, the attackers repeatedly rammed and opened fire on the armored Toyota pickup truck while the surprised driver and an armed guard were fleeing through traffic.
Dash cam footage records the moment severe cracks begin, with the exterior of the driver’s window shattering inches from his face moments later.
The engine roaring can be heard turning and spinning vigorously several times in an effort to lose its tail.
The guard grabs and holds a machine gun while waiting for more attacks.
On one occasion, the driver turned around and then heard shouting, āThey are going to shoot. They are going to fireā before several more shots were fired.
āCall Robby, call Josh. Ask them where they are,ā he said to his colleague.
After two and a half minutes, the driver stopped the truck, took the rifle and got off, by which point the attackers had fled.
His actions earned him praise online after the April 22 incident in South Africa.
Stephen Van Waik said: “This man has the skills to deal with stressful situations without the need to panic, just relax and do not stop driving until you are in a safe place and then put out his mechanism to start the war.”
