Terminal #3 and nearby terminals of the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico were evacuated due to a possible explosive in an abandoned suitcase.
An official explosive-detection K-9 dog identified the suitcase, while the Explosives Division investigated.
It was learned that a passenger left a suitcase unattended and prior to claiming it, the police explosives dogs marked it as potentially containing explosives. Therefore, the explosives protocol was activated for that type of case.
The investigation takes place between terminal B and terminal C, which is why the baggage check is stopped and terminal is closed until further notice.
Update: The authorities authorized the resumption of operations at the Luis Muñoz Marín international airport in Isla Verde, after several terminals were closed and the situation was clarified, the suitcase did not contain any dangerous explosives or substance. The suspicious suitcase was found unattended near the counter of the American Airlines area.
