Church Minister accused of Generators THEFT


A man who was charged with the theft of 4 power generators  that were sent to Puerto Rico via mail was left in Federal custody after his initial hearing before Judge Bruce McGiverin.

The bail was set at $10,000. On Wednesday a grand jury will be held to evaluate the case.

The defendant, identified as Christian Joel Encarnación Sandoval – is a minister of a church in the metro area and an employee of Cargo Force, a company contracted by USPS for the transportation of correspondence from the Muñiz base in Carolina to federal headquarters .

The man was arrested Sunday night in the Cargo Force building, located at the entrance of the Muñiz Base, in Isla Verde. During the arrest, which occurred after a confidence, the four generators were found in the vehicle Encarnación Sandoval was driving.

The generators were sent or requested by Puerto Ricans after the emergency caused by Hurricane Maria. For the charge of postal theft, the subject is exposed to 5-20 years in prison.
