President Donald Trump confirmed today that he seeks to bring from Peru hundreds of US citizens – including at least 15 Puerto Ricans – who were stranded when that country closed its airspace and limited access across its borders, due to the coronavirus.
“We are trying to get them out, probably through the military,” Trump said at a press conference this afternoon at the White House.
The Puerto Rican tourist group, which includes residents of the island and United States states, has approached the Puerto Rico State Department and the office of Democratic Congressman Darren Soto (Florida), according to one of the Puerto Ricans.
Trump hinted that there are residents of Alabama among the group of American citizens, one of the states that usually supports Republicans.
