The Puerto Rico Army National Guard announced that it will begin installing “tent cities” in several municipalities in the south of the island.
As they said in a press release, these facilities will be in the municipalities of Ponce, Peñuelas, Guayanilla, Yauco and Guánica, which are the most affected by the 6.0+ magnitude earthquakes that shook the island recently.
What are these types of camps?
-They are temporary homes made with tents
-Although it is a structure made in tents, the space includes portable kitchens
-It also includes medical services
-They can accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 people
In the case of Puerto Rico, the National Guard indicated that the medical services that will be offered in these “tent cities” also address psychologists.
“The PR National Guard will continue to provide support in this emergency until necessary. Our primary mission is to help restore the tranquility and quality of life of our Puerto Rican brothers. Let them know that we will always be ready and present to help them in everything that is within our reach, “said the general assistant, José J. Reyes when making the announcement.
