Ozuna-Fret FBI investigation underway

After he desisted from asking the Department of Justice and the Puerto Rico Police for an investigation into an extortion pattern on the part of urban trap singer Kevin Fret -murdered on January 10- fearing that his rising career would affect him, internationally known trap-star Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, AKA Ozuna, went to the federal authorities in Florida, but also regretted it, as to avoid that their complaints ended up being public.

Ozuna’s lawyer Antonio Miguel Sagardía, corroborated today both versions from police sources.

Sagardía, who was secretary of Justice in 2009, explained that several months ago he accompanied Ozuna to the Division of Cybercrime in the Department of Justice and that they were served by prosecutor Luis Freyre, who is in charge of that unit.

“Ozuna filed a complaint that Fret was extorting him. They examined Ozuna’s phone, who was on tour and came from Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) to address the issue. He had to return, “said Sagardía.

The other complaint was made at the FBI office in Miami and was accompanied by another lawyer, said Sagardía.

“He decided to leave the matter there. He went on tour, people speculated and we forgot. I called the prosecutor Freyre and explained. Freyre said he did not agree, that The Justice Dept. wanted to go to the end of the matter, “said Sagradía adding that the decision was made by the artist because of the immense workload and presentations he had.

At least three sources linked to the investigation of the murder of the trap singer, Fret, have revealed that as part of the investigation,  the Ozuna complaints made seven months ago are being examined, in which allegedly Ozuna paid Fret about $50,000.

The police sources point out that Ozuna had the intention to have his complaint investigated by a federal agency, but upon learning that if the responsible for the extortion charges was identified, the case would become a public one, so he gave up.

One of the priorities of the investigation of the violent death of the trap singer, the bank accounts for Fret will be examined this week and the sources do not know how much money he kept. It seeks to corroborate if the figure reached  $400,000 that could have been awarded with the signing of a contract with a private label.

Fret was shot and killed in the early hours of Thursday, January 10, when he was riding his motorcycle at the intersection of Eduardo Conde Avenue and Bellevue Street in Villa Palmeras in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

After the shots, several agents who were patrolling the area found him severely wounded on the motorcycle and also tried to stop an individual who was next to the dying young man. The trap singer was taken to the Medical Center of Río Piedras, where he died.
