Comptroller Yesmín Valdivieso confirmed that the Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), Walter Higgins, hired his best friend Víctor H. Peña Vargas to offer him Consulting services.
Valdivieso said in a radio interview that Peña Vargas will earn $22,500 per month. “Yes. He is registered in our office, and according to the contract, he will earn $ 22,500 monthly.” Peña Vargas will obtain a total of $315,000 at the end of its term.
The contract has sparked outrage in the island, at a time when financial hardship keeps on hammering and weakening the island’s economy.
