Yauco’s paramedics receive raises, equipment upgrades

---

Yauco Mayor Ángel Luis “Luigi” Torres Ortiz said Tuesday that as part of his commitment to his governing program he will be improving the economic and work conditions of the southern coastal municipality’s paramedics.

Javier Rodríguez, an official with the municipal Public Safety Administration, along with Steven Feliciano, the chief of Municipal Medical Emergencies, provided high-quality 5.11 tactical uniforms to the paramedics, the mayor noted.

“We have also given them salary hikes, new vehicles and Type 3 units [authorized for the administration of medicine] and high-technology equipment,” he said.

“We have to remember that our paramedics play a fundamental role in our pre-hospital attention, responding immediately to medical emergencies and disasters,” Torres Ortiz added. “Nonetheless, at times they face very challenging work conditions. In Yauco today we are giving them labor justice.”
