A grand jury today found a local teacher guilty on charges of transporting a minor with intent to commit “criminal sexual activity.”
A press release announcement made by the head of federal prosecutors, Rosa Emilia Rodríguez, who added that teacher Yaira Tanies Cotto Flores transported a 14 yr-old student to a MOTEL in San Lorenzo, PR with the intention of maintaining explicit sexual behavior.
The trial lasted 9 days and the jury deliberated for four hours. “The jury found Cotto Flores guilty of stealing the innocence of a child,” said Federal prosecutor Rosa Emilia Rodríguez. She faces a 10-year minimum sentence in jail.
