San Germán digitally archives nearly 65,000 historical images

---

San Germán Mayor Virgilio Olivera Olivera said over the weekend that “after three months of intense work, today we can, with enormous pride, inform the country that our Historical Archive now has 64,437 images that profiles the history of our beloved city.”

“This is thanks to the joint work of the Puerto Rico Institute of Culture and FamilySearch Inc.,” the mayor said Saturday in a written statement, adding that the three most important of the archived historical collections are the Actas del Cabildo (1797-1980), Registros de Difuntos (1903-1999) and Censos de Población (1860-1899).

“In this way, in San Germán we make an important step forward in preserving our history,” Olivera said.

“This exhaustive project is available for access in the Historical Archive of San Germán as well as the FamilySearch digital platform and the General Archive of Puerto Rico,” the mayor added.
