At a heartfelt ceremony conducted this past weekend, William Miranda Torres formally embarked on a new term as the mayor of Caguas, reaffirming his dedication to the city’s advancement by upholding the strategic alliances that have established Caguas as Puerto Rico’s center and soul.
In his remarks, Miranda Torres underscored the significance of these alliances as crucial instruments for tackling challenges and improving the opportunities that position Caguas among the leading cities on the island.
“Our cooperative model has demonstrated that, when we collaborate, there are no challenges too great or goals too far out of reach,” stated the mayor. “This dedication propels us to continue fortifying the business, social, and cultural fabric of our city, transforming Caguas into the true energetic core of Puerto Rico.”
The municipal leader expressed gratitude to the residents of Caguas for their confidence and reiterated his pledge to uphold responsibility and transparency. He also conveyed his appreciation to municipal staff, external partners, and community members who have worked alongside his administration to elevate Caguas as a beacon of resilience, innovation, and criollo pride for others to emulate.
Miranda Torres, who has held the mayoral position since a special election in 2010, urged citizens to remain actively engaged in the city’s development, emphasizing that Caguas’s success rests on the collective efforts of all its sectors. “Governance is not a singular endeavor,” he noted. “Genuine change occurs when communities, institutions, individuals, and government unite and collaborate.”
With this event, Miranda Torres inaugurated the celebration of Caguas’s 250th anniversary, a year that will feature special projects, school contests, culinary festivals, and a mini-documentary capturing the significant moments in the town’s history.
