Governor to confer next week with legislators regarding appointments

---

On Wednesday, Gov. Jenniffer González Colón announced that as the Legislative Assembly resumes next week, she intends to meet with the leaders of both chambers to deliberate on her official nominations and various other topics.

“I hold the authority to make nominations. I requested the citizens of Puerto Rico to elect a House and a Senate to carry out my plans. The populace granted me that responsibility with a two-thirds majority to do so,” the governor stated during a press briefing. “Next week, I will engage with the legislative leaders. We are, of course, gearing up for the session’s commencement, during which we will address the appointments. They bear constitutional duties to review and offer their advice and consent.”

“Puerto Rico requires people capable of effectively realizing initiatives,” González Colón remarked. “I have complete faith that our nominees for both the House and Senate will meet the people’s expectations, who are weary of a Legislature obstructing the governor. The prior governor faced challenges in executing his agenda due to insufficient legislative backing to endorse appointments and enact laws. I am confident that we will collaborate smoothly moving ahead.”

The governor expressed her aim to conclude most of the appointments prior to next Monday, the date when the Legislative Assembly formally opens.
