On Thursday, Maritere Colón Domínguez, the acting administrative director of the island’s court system, unveiled the special operational plan for the judicial branch’s functions from December 23 to January 6. This initiative encompasses closures, modifications to schedules, and consolidated operations to manage urgent issues.
The courts will be closed from December 23 to December 25 and again on December 30 and December 31, as well as on January 1 and January 6. The closures will affect the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Court Administration Office, and the Notary Inspection Office. Court terms that expire on these dates will be prolonged to the next business day.
During the period from December 23 to December 25 and from January 4 to January 6, the investigation rooms located in San Juan and Bayamón will function on a consolidated basis at the Bayamón Judicial Center from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Conversely, from December 30 to January 1, those operations will shift to the San Juan Judicial Center during the same hours.
Judicial regions such as Aguadilla, Mayagüez, and Ponce will observe specific hours for their investigation rooms on the allocated days. Moreover, the Virtual Municipal Room will be accessible each day from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. to address protection orders, involuntary admissions related to mental health, and other urgent issues.
