On Wednesday, Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia issued Executive Order 2024-038, designating December 24 and December 31 as holidays for public employees, ensuring that their vacation leave balances remain unaffected.

“I acknowledge the significance of our public servants celebrating these cherished times with their families during the Christmas season,” Pierluisi expressed in a written statement. “This acknowledges their commitment and hard work throughout the year. I wish them a joyful holiday filled with tranquility, joy, and cherished moments with their loved ones.”

Per the executive order, agency leaders are required to guarantee that essential services are not negatively impacted, utilizing their managerial authority to maintain operational continuity for the benefit of the public.
