The candidate for mayor from the New Progressive Party in Cidra, Delvis Pagán Clavijo, emerged victorious in the election after the review process, defeating the incumbent from the Popular Democratic Party.
Pagán Clavijo, who possesses a wealth of experience in public administration through his roles as a municipal assembly member and his work with the legislative assembly and executive branch, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome and extended his gratitude to his electoral team for their role in counting the votes.
“First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to God for providing me with guidance and strength during this journey where we made ourselves ready to lead our cherished town; to my family, who have been incredibly supportive during this significant time; and equally important to all the constituents who honored me with their votes and entrusted the future of our town into my care,” Pagán Clavijo stated Thursday in a written announcement. “I promise you that I will wholeheartedly fulfill my duty to make the City of Eternal Spring flourish and bring order, direction, and stability to it.”
Pagán Clavijo noted that he spoke on Tuesday afternoon with the outgoing mayor, Ángel David Concepción, who agreed to conduct transition meetings within five days.
“I appreciate the outgoing mayor’s readiness to cooperate at all times to facilitate the transition in the upcoming days, acknowledging the limited time we have to kick off the process,” the newly elected mayor remarked. “We are prepared to take on this responsibility and execute our Government Program.”
“Our dedication is to the welfare of all Cidra residents and ensuring transparency in every action we take in this new administration that we pledged to our people,” Pagán Clavijo added. “We will prioritize the implementation of projects focused on infrastructure, economic development, and security to transform Cidra into a thriving and secure environment for all families.”
The outgoing mayor congratulated Pagán Clavijo in a statement issued on Thursday.
“Today, we set politics aside and acknowledge the victory of Mr. Delvis Pagán,” Concepción stated. “I congratulate him and wish him success in his new responsibilities overseeing our community.”
Concepción also expressed his appreciation to his administrative staff for their efforts “over the past four years.”
“Alongside all the municipal employees, we succeeded in elevating our Cidra and advancing it to a new level,” he remarked. “We accomplished significant projects and set many others in motion. We allocated the people’s resources into the hands of the people. Time reveals wisdom, and I am confident that even those who currently do not recognize all we achieved will eventually come to see it.”
