Commissioner Col. Antonio López Figueroa of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau conducted a press briefing on Tuesday concerning the apprehension of an adult and the detention of a juvenile linked to the murder of Ángel Manuel Díaz Ramírez, a 25-year-old music producer fatally shot at the Burger King drive-thru located at the Shops at Caguas shopping center.
“Everyone involved in this incident is affiliated with the group ‘Los Viraos’ based in Cayey,” stated López Figueroa.
Early on Monday morning, a report to the 9-1-1 Emergency System informed authorities about an individual shot inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, police discovered the deceased body of Díaz Ramírez, a resident of Caguas, inside a Toyota Tacoma truck.
According to López Figueroa, four individuals were involved in the murder. He appealed to the community for assistance in locating one of the suspects, named Yadniel Alberto Maldonado Berríos, a 19-year-old residing in Cayey.
“We urge the public to assist us in identifying this person,” the police commissioner remarked. “We need to pinpoint this individual’s location. A task force is currently working on the case—comprised of Homicides, the Robbery Unit, the Criminal Intelligence Division, the Drug Division, Stolen Vehicles, and all Police divisions are collaborating, and we are announcing that charges will be brought against these individuals today.”
López Figueroa noted that there is video evidence, among other proofs.
“To the family of Ángel Manuel Díaz Ramírez, I extend my condolences,” he expressed. “Please know that the Police are here and always prepared to provide the service we are tasked with, which is ensuring safety. Ángel Manuel’s death must not go unpunished.”
