DDEC reveals fresh hiring prospects

The Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC), via the “Conexión Laboral” initiative, is actively conducting recruitment fairs across Puerto Rico.

The first event is scheduled for this Wednesday, November 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Puerto Rico Convention Center. This fair will focus on professionals seeking opportunities in the energy industry. The event is organized in partnership with the SESA Summit team, and firms such as LUMA, IBTS, Bright Panel, Home Power, and Windmar Home will be offering over 300 job openings across various sectors, including engineering, project coordination, sales, marketing, accounting, procurement, and contracts, among others.

The subsequent recruitment fair is set for Thursday, November 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will take place at the Plaza Río Hondo Mall in Bayamón, bringing together over 60 employers from diverse economic backgrounds and presenting a range of immediate job opportunities.

“We encourage those in search of work to join the Conexión Laboral fairs, which provide all the necessary resources for effective recruitment. At DDEC, we remain committed to fostering the growth of the private sector by connecting it with individuals interested in entering the job market or pursuing new career paths,” stated Secretary Manuel Cidre Miranda.

Jenny Mar Cañón Feliciano, Assistant Secretary of Federal Programs and Director of Conexión Laboral, added, “our fairs stand out because attendees can find everything they need in one location, including assistance with resume preparation, diverse job offerings, employer interviews, educational workshops, and sign language services for those who require alternative communication methods. This is a unique chance to secure employment, so we urge citizens to participate and explore our available positions.”

Conexión Laboral is the agency appointed by the Government of Puerto Rico to manage federal resources under Title I of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Its mission is to promote and develop workforce talent by investing in education, training, and employment.
