Following the acquisition of four properties in Río Piedras, the Municipality of San Juan has allocated them to the Center for Puerto Rico of the Sila M. Calderón Foundation Inc., as announced by Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo on Wednesday.
The mayor noted that on August 1 of this year, Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia enacted Senate Joint Resolution 507, transforming it into Joint Resolution 55-2024, which mandates the Puerto Rico Land Administration to transfer, at no cost, four real estate properties in Río Piedras to the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan. This legislation enables the municipality to forge collaborative agreements concerning the properties with the Calderón Foundation to support its mission.
“The Municipal Administration is steadfast in its dedication to enhancing communities by facilitating educational and training services, as well as programs focused on social action, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment, in addition to support for survivors of gender violence, and collaboration aimed at revitalizing Río Piedras,” Romero stated.
The transfer was made viable by the San Juan Legislature’s approval of Ordinance No. 16, Series 2024-2025, on October 25. The properties were transferred at no charge, and for registration purposes, each property was appraised at $1.00. The deeds executed on Wednesday included two properties situated at 1002 Ponce de León Avenue and 1005 González Street, along with a property at 13 Romany Street, all within Río Piedras.
“These properties are adjacent to the land occupied by the Foundation, so this transfer will enhance the facilities and services offered by the Foundation,” Romero concluded.
